Lip Fillers are a type of dermal filler that is administered to add volume to the lip and mouth area, made up of synthetic hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body. The treatment is one of the most popular forms of nonsurgical cosmetic procedure, helping people to feel more confident by smoothing out wrinkles, creating volume and correcting the shape of the lips.
As we get older, our lips can start to lose collagen and start to look thinner over time, which can affect our self-esteem and confidence, but you can avoid the need for more invasive surgical procedures by going for lip fillers instead.
The results themselves look very natural and can last between 12 and 18 months, although this will depend on how old you are and how quickly your body metabolises calories into energy. Younger people, for example, may find that their lip fillers don’t last as long as they’d like because they typically burn calories more quickly.
Here at Sky Clinic, we provide hyaluronic acid lip fillers to clients in the Windsor, Slough and West London areas, as well as Maidenhead, Berkshire and Reading. Once administered, the treatment will leave your lips and mouth looking fuller, with wrinkles and creases ironed out.
Lip fillers are a popular nonsurgical and noninvasive cosmetic treatment that people choose in order to enjoy fuller, plumper lips, as well as restoring volume and addressing fine lines and wrinkles. They’re made of hyaluronic acid that hydrates the skin by retaining water and giving the skin tissue greater structural support, which delivers immediate results in the appearance of the skin.
Because lip fillers are noninvasive and don’t involve any surgery, they’re considered a safe and relatively pain-free procedure. You may experience some discomfort when the injections are administered but you shouldn’t be in any pain. If you find your discomfort level increases to the point of pain, make sure you tell your clinician. Local anaesthetic or topical numbing cream can be applied if required.
Lip filler results are immediate, although it can take a few weeks for the full effect to be enjoyed. You can expect for the results to last between six and eight months, but you may want to go for booster treatments every six months if you want to see prolonged and uninterrupted structure and volume in the lip area.
Recovery time with lip fillers is minimal compared to other more invasive procedures, but you may experience a few side-effects in the days following your treatment. These include bruising, swelling and redness, but these should resolve themselves quickly. Note, however, that lip fillers can reactivate cold sores on and around the lips.
Recovery time is minimal after lip fillers but avoid touching or massaging your lips for 48 hours after the treatment to reduce any swelling. You can also gently apply an ice pack to the affected area if you are experiencing bruising or swelling. Avoid smoking for 48 hours, as pursing your lips can make the filler move. Also avoid heat-inducing activities like using the sauna or strenuous exercise for 48 hours after your treatment.
Lip filler involves the injection of hyaluronic acid dermal filler into your lips to enhance their shape, volume and appearance, addressing common concerns such as signs of ageing and asymmetry.
Before the procedure can be carried out, you’ll sit down for a consultation with a member of the Sky Clinic team who will take a medical history to determine which course of treatment will be most appropriate, as well as answering all your questions and putting your mind at ease.
Avoid drinking alcohol and taking ibuprofen for 24 hours before the appointment to reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising. If you have an active cold sore, the procedure cannot go ahead so if this is the case, make sure you reschedule.
During the procedure, small amounts of dermal filler will be carefully injected into specific areas of your lips to strategically target areas of concern. It may be necessary for your clinician to massage the affected area to ensure even distribution of the dermal filler.
