Best Hair Removal Treatments For Fuzz-Free Legs Over Summer

The great thing about summer is being able to wear our favourite sundresses. However, our least favourite thing about summer is having to stay on top of hair removal, so we can look good in the sundresses.

Removing hair from your legs, bikini and underarms is no mean feat, especially after winter growth, but most women find the challenge lies in having to stay on top of it.

Here are some tips on how to manage your fuzz-free look for the summer.

Shave

The easiest way to ensure you don’t have any unsightly hairs peeking out of your shorts is to shave whenever you spot regrowth. This means you don’t have to worry about a big hair removal episode or have to wait for hairs to grow to a certain length before getting rid of them.

However, there are some downsides to shaving. Firstly, it can leave hair thicker, coarser and darker, making it more obvious even if it is short.

It can also result in red razor bumps that can last a couple of days, which could affect how your legs look at that all important event you needed them clean-shaven for.

Lastly, shaving is high maintenance, as you need to stay on top of it all the time. Hair grows back very quickly and without taking your razor into the shower regularly, you will be left with stubble.

Epilate

A more long-lasting option is to epilate. This works by removing hair directly from the roots, which means it lasts much longer than shaving.

It is also able to remove short hair, so you don’t have to wait as long as you would if you opted for waxing.

Additionally, regular epilation has been shown to reduce hair in the long-run, while hair typically grows back finer, softer and more slowly.

However, as with anything, there are some downsides. These include being uncomfortable or painful, especially the first few times.

You might also miss a number of hairs if you rush the process, and it can result in raised red bumps for a few hours after you remove the hair.

Laser hair removal

The biggest benefit to having laser hair removal is it is the most permanent option available.

It works by destroying hair follicles, until eventually, hair no longer grows in the area.

The number of treatments required will depend on the type of hair, and how well you respond to the laser. Six or more treatments, around four to eight weeks apart, are usually required before long-lasting results can be seen.

Once the course of treatment has finished, however, you don’t have to worry about getting your legs out, taking your kids swimming, or an unexpected hot day, as your legs will be glossy and fuzz-free every day.
